On Wednesday my group and I had filmed our final shoot for our
multi-camera production, it is my duty to say that it went very well even
though we had a late start simply because one of our talent members was running
late, in the mean time we had decided that we should go ahead and get
everything and everybody ready and knew exactly what each member of the group
was doing.
Whilst we had to wait a while I had a chance to practice my role
even more. Since I was a cameraman, all I had to do was get the angles and
shots right that were directed to me by our director Saif. I also had the chance to practice moving the
camera from one side of our set to another at a fast pace to help my group
capture the reactions of both contesting groups, this was an idea I had seen on
my different game shows such as The Chase. Another thing I had practiced was
zooming in and out at the right times and at the right pace.
Once our Talent had arrived we had moved straight on with the
filming, as we were a little behind. Immediately the talent knew what he was
going to do so we went straight in with the filming. At the start it seemed to
be perfect simply because the music was on time, presenter had all his lines
bang on and the camera shots we all perfect, but then during the middle of our
production the presenters microphone had cut out so we had stop the recording
and fix the issue as quickly as possible as we were quite behind.
Once the problem with the microphone was sorted out we
immediately went back to recording and from then onwards everything seemed to
work very smoothly and in our favor until the final round were we had the same
problem occur again where our presenters microphone had cut off again. When a
problem happens in our production we would all fall for it as we are working in
a group and not individually, so if one person falls we all fall, in my case
because the presenters microphone has cut off I would have to go back a step to
the previous angle I was on and try and get it perfectly right. Once the
microphone had been sorted our again, the presenter read out his final line
again and we called it a rap.
Once our filming had been done we all went back to class to
discuss how well it went. Whilst our discussion, our technician had came in to
tell us that the final round of our production had not been recorded simply
because someone had forgotten to press the record button. This was very
frustrating for us, as we all had called it a rap and thought that it was all
over. This was not a big issue, as we all knew what we were doing and knew what
had to be done to help us finish it as quickly as possible.
Once all of the filming had been done, during our next lesson,
whilst everyone was evaluating what had happened during this production I was
in the editing room editing our final piece and putting it all together. The
editing was very challenging as I had to do some modification on sound levels
to keep it consistent as our talent were either to quite or too loud and I had
to make it just perfect to be as consistent as possible.
My next challenge was editing the green screen and adding our
own background. This was a huge problem, at the start of our recording we did
not correctly set up the lighting of the studio correctly. This had caused a
problem as whatever background I would add would not turn out to look good, so
overall I had discussed this with our director and agreed on leaving our final
piece with the green screen as the background.
Overall I think I can say that every
group member had worked well with the role given to him or her. The pre-production
had worked out to be very useful for us as this helped us manage our time
correctly without going past deadlines.
